Modifying existing units..

Post by SouthSaturnDelta » 2006-05-13 20:08:37

I was watching a movie of NVA, and noticed the helmets they wore as opposed to the felt hats and beanies.Any chance of adding this with maybe a few leaves and branches stuck to it?

Also It'd be nice to see( actually better not ) a few VC snipers up in the trees?
Bit of extra danger.

have you even played with the NVA in VTE/SEBNam? If so, you;d see the pith helmets. If you mean steel helmets, then no, they won't be in there.

Also if you look in the post below, one of your questions is answered.

I meant  snipers in the trees partially hidden ,though thats more of a script.  I was on about the steel helmets - look a bit like Russian ww2 ?
Dont get me wrong  EBUD, the pith Hats are great. Just thought a bit of variety might be nice.

How about Nva trucks with heavy weapons mounted on the back ?
The Gooks done a lot of that.

I agree variety is good, but I've yet to see any pics or read any reference to any NVA south of the border wearing the steel helmets, and I have nearly 100 books on the war. Probably happened, but off the top of my head, all the pics I have seen with it are in the north and worn my aa gunners. Nice idea though and depending on time I may do it, but right now I'd say no.

You should've asked me. ;)

From a book called 7 Firefights in vietnam, kindly put on the internet, there are two mentions of steel helmets on NVA regulars during the battle of Lang Vei. Lang Vei was close to Khe Sanh and was the scene of a battle where the NVA used Armoured vehicles for the first time during an assault. The NVA held it a good few months too.

The book.

it's still a no at this point as I'm hoping to cut down on the amount of units needing models. I'm at 44 models now, so 1 more may not kill anything, but I'm trying to cull off some models as it is, and I don't do hidden selections. Just a personal preference.

well, all due respect wouldn't hidden selections cut the amount of models right down? is it the fact that you do not like hidden selections or just that you arent sure how they work (please dont take offence :) )

I will probably end up using some hidden selections for various headgear and loadouts, but still that only cuts down a few models.

And yes I know how to make them. Been doing this going on 6 years now.
