PMC NAM 1965 campaign background

Post by Snake_Man » 2003-08-24 22:22:27

PMC NAM 1965 is a campaign for SEB NAM Pack 2 using its default units.

I had the honor to talk on IRC with SelectThis (SEB member) about a campaign for their excellent SEB NAM Pack 2 and he convinced me to create it by just using the default units. No other addons are needed in top of the NAM Pack 2 to run this campaign, so yes at this moment (Aug 2003) we dont have NAM aircrafts etc fancy stuff yet.

Difference in this campaign to my earlier work is that now there is another person helping me and we do have actual manuscript explaining in detail each mission. The missions have character based storyline, there is dialog in cutscenes (but no voice acting just text, sorry). There will be also music on the cutscenes, the good old 60's Rock'n'Roll which makes excellent NAM mood.

The second guy working in this campaign is MadFred, you can find his COOP action war story on the screenshots page. He has been great COOP guy, inspiration, researcher and beta tester (including PMC Fury) and its been great working with him. MadFred has done work for the sound files (ogg), written all the briefings & overviews and made the overview images.

I dont want to give away the details of the missions, like number of them in manuscript. However I can tell you that there is currently 15 missions made and 6 standalone cutscenes and you get to play more than one character in the campaign, including Air Cav officer and flying a UH-1 Huey helicopter.

If anyone have any questions, just ask and I'll try to answer.

Would you consider making the campaign AMORE compliant? (See the AMORE section at The FAQ for details).

Now I can confirm that players get to see action also as Special Forces squad leader.

So the list is: Air Cav squad leader, Air Cav pilot and Special Forces squad leader.

Hi Snake
You are more than welcome to use the US version of the A4 Skyhawk if you wish.

Don't forget the ever-famous Bronko (is it by DKM? ) and Footmunch has just released a Phantom.

Unfortunately I'm using only the "official SEB" stuff. At this moment right now, today, there are no fixed wing aircraft so I'm forced to do those few airstrike missions with BIS A-10.

I know this sucks.

Anyone wanting to have some cooler aircrafts can direct their questions/suggestions to SelectThis whos in charge of SEB NAM Pack 2.

Why are you imposing this forced limitation on yourself?

Alas the Avon lady is correct. You will miss out on a lot of kudos and enjoyment by limiting yourself to only the SEB units. Footmunch has released some excellent aircraft which would blend seamlessly with the SEB stuff, like the Skyraider and the Thud. There is also D. Richardson's Jungle sniper, U.S. MP and the Mad-dogX Viet Cong Geurillas.
I know that if there are a lot of addons to go with the campaign that the file size may become an issue and it may become tedious to download all the files involved. However if the campaign is good enough then I don't think anyone would mind that much.

Also as a side note. I think that voice files are a must for any flashpoint release. They just add so much to the missios/campaigns.

Peace, I'm out.

I think keeping addons to a minimum is good idea.

Sounds very good. :) I have a hunch that this is the 50 mission campaign that STT mentioned in the OFPEC forums? COrrect me if I'm wrong, but if this is the case, then it's awesome. ;)

Alas, the Avon Lady is incorrect. I will miss out on hair tearing, finger biting, and blood curdling screams, by NOT downloading 19 add ons from 12 sites with six of those links broken, 13 of the dloads at wrong revision, nine of them renamed to something else, several of them missing entirely, and four which crash my computer.. I really do think I can limit my enjoyment thanks.

look at any of the many web sites hosting ofp mission/campaigns. Each one that has massive dload counts also have, in big bold type, NO ADDONS REQUIRED. gee, I wonder if there's a connection?

yes, ok, a splendid Nam theme would look a bit silly with with russian infantry climbing up coconut trees, but, there is a standard: sebnam 2. if SelectThis deems that a chinook with fluorescent pink paint is 'ok' and bug free, I'll buy it, otherwise, I wont.
