First attempt failed at generating a decent dem file for the area on global mapper. I know that this mess up was on me however so I am going to have to make the terrain from google maps/driving around in that area. I plan for this map to be a 8km as I love the fields in Lancaster PA area. I'll keep this thread updated with updates I do over time, when I get time to do a scratch terrain that is.

I forget which export I did wrong, I think it was the size was suppose to be 8192. I ended up exporting 16384 for the 8km. I downsized to export into L3dT, it still gave an error then tried it again then that was all I could do in the trail I don't think they have a decent lidar imaging of that area. I never really made them by hand before normally just lidar exports and small edits from there to get it to where it actually is.

Hey Snake, I was wondering if you could maybe try to regen. I was also hoping for a more hd image for the pda.

40°08'16.1"N 76°03'54.5"W This is what I believe the center point was. I'll need a 4km and 8km for the heightmap. One for the 4km and the seemless boarder for the 8km.

I reformatted recently so don't have anything setup anymore sadly. I would be happy to start the map over from scratch if we can't get it to a 1:1, the terrain I have now isn't accurate and I don't live far away.

Hmm you don't have terrain editing tools (global mapper and L3DT) installed anymore? You don't have the installers saved?

Sure I can do source files for you on some cool size if you don't have or cant use the tools anymore.

Sadly I didn't save the exe. I have the terrain it just isn't accurate sadly.

Nobody who knows about heightmap and unitsPerPixel is doing power of two sizes terrains anymore (2km, 4km, 8.1km and 16.3km) as you can do any size you want, only ones doing those cliche sizes are newbies or uneducated people. I haven't done 4-8.1-16.3 kilometer sizes in years now, actually I'm pissed off about myself as in 2019 I created so many 8.1km ones (like PMC Iowa Garden City 8km etc), I actually resized one 8.1km age old FS17 ported unreleased terrain to 10.2km x 10.2km size just to avoid that dumb cliche size mistake.

Yeah I was thinking a 4km or even 8lm for the base then size it up to the next dimensions. I wanted to test a theory I had using blender for a seemless boarder.
