Need help with floating objects

Post by klavan » 2005-12-09 17:18:36

Hi all.
I'm creating an harbour and i would like to place some cranes over the docks, but i've got problem: even after editing the position of the crane to place it above the dock section (using the object inspector tool) the same crane returns below it when i preview the isle ingame.
Both the crane and the docks are floating objects, but i wonder if there's a way to lock the crane position.
Note that the crane appears in the right position in the WrpTool's 3D-View.
Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately wrptool doesn't give a damn about that :-/
The readme does say
All pier elements dimensions are 50x50m and height is 5m above sea level. See attached .cpp file for details on model names. You have to make them placed at 0m height, by disabling "fit to ground" checkbox and setting Y cordinate to 0. For best effect make shore line at 5m and then step slope to -50m in the place when the harbour is to be placed.
so is that exactly what you've tried? Unless the model has an invisible part underneath it will always stand at 0 level regardless of any elevation changes unless the above quote has anything to say about it.

Yeah, after a couple of hour passed imprecating i discovered that a 20 mts slope gives good results. :D
My fault not to say that before now. :-[
BTW thanks a lot for your help. :)
