Pulling my hair out

Post by SGT_SAVAGE » 2005-09-16 07:32:44

I am making a map with custom obejects which are provided by Arne.He recently sent me a zip containing an object with 3 different versions, no animations. One of them I can see on the screen the other two are those annoying light blue boxes with the ? in them.BTW they have been bined. Is there any ideas why this is happening?  ???

A comment by the authors is really appreciated. I had the problem once as SGT_SAVAGE described and after many changes it suddendly worked with WrpTool. The objects Sgt. Savage mentioned can be loaded without problems in OdEx.
Are there any DOs or DONT'S for O² regarding later use with WrpTool?

Basically I dont know.

Could this problem be the same as with AGS industrial addon where the models aren't loaded correctly, or at least cannot be aligned to ground or something like that (cannot remember anymore, been using new WrpTool for so long heh)?

As of what needs to be done in O2 to make it WrpTool compatible, I'd say only to make the models binarize without errors would be ok start. The released v0.950 WrpTool has some problems, but the new upcoming v1.0 will load at least the AGS stuff correctly, what I mean is its the "same code" as OdEx (Dschulle can correct me if I'm wrong).

So you're sure it's a different code-basis reading ODOL files inside OdEx/WrpTool 0.95?
OdEx displays them properly, WrpTool can't show them.

The files run through binarize without an error message. No concave objects in one of the GeoLODs in O2.

Any way to get the 1.00ß??? Because that's really annoying placing bridges. I'll sign any NDA :D

Mayby I can shine a small light on this one. For Bonaire island I made every single object and noticed also that some do align correctly and some don't. All objects need to be binarized before using them in WRPtool. But if you use the same binarized objects ingame they sometimes appear burried ingame. After some testing I now have the following rule:

WRPtool: always use binarized versions of all addons

Ingame: Only binarize the buildings.
Leave all other objects unbinarized.

So if your smart use different pbo files for your objects, so you don't have any problems with binarizing. Anyway I don't know why this works but at least it does work. Hope this helps you a little.

Heh, well damn I hope we can release the v1.0 final soon. Its been on testing a long time now and there is no critical bugs, yeah there might be some nuisances but absolutely nothing that prevents us to create and edit islands with it.

I'll try to kick in action in the WrpTool dev area so we can get this v1.0 out soon.

Well, that's the most appreciated solution :D
Whenever you visit south-western Germany, I'll offer you a beer, or two....

thanx, Arne
