Object always at groundlevel
I am making a model of a (real) town with a canal and harbour. The terriain shore line is too boviously rectangular so I need a model to place along the shore to mark it out and "hide" the terrain. The Resstance harbour models are too elaborate so I have made my own.
The model is a grey box 50x25x10m which I can place out like a road. It has a LOD, Geo, View Geo, Fire Geo, a Roadway on top so I can move on it, class house and dammage building. Absolutely very basic and nothing strange.
I am using WrpTool. WrpTool sees them as houses. When I place it out using 3D-view for height everything looks absolutley normal. It maybe appears a little too high but nothing dramatic. However in the game they follow the ground and change Y pos with it. No matter what I do in WrpTool. Defining them as houses in config.cpp does not help. In the game I see them as houses.
What is happening? Where is there position being changed so they follow the ground? Is it WrpTool that is trying to help me or is it OFP which is doing it? This is very annoying as it looks like my idea will work.
An extra question.
One problem is that I can not put trees or roads on them which I would like to do. Is it possible to make an "ground" object which behaves as if it were part of the ground?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Object always at groundlevel
Looking over my query in the cold light of dawn it seems a little muddled.
I set the elevation (to absolute value) in WrpTool and it seems happy with it, but when I run OFP the models now follow the elevation of the ground underneath them.
Setting the elevation relative the ground make no difference.
Having an object which you can place other ground hugging objects on, like roads and trees, would be an Enormous Win.

hmm,
sounds familiar. Try to binarize your addon. Putting objects on other objects is very hard.

Re: Object always at groundlevel
The problem has now been solved. They were binarized.
The solution was simple. To make it easier to place the harbour objects I put the origin of the model on the top surface. Simply by moving the origin somewhere else, in this case the center, everything now works and they remain at the elevation at which I put them. Why it does this at all is another question. And who does it.
Of course the problem of the objects not being like the ground still remains. I can't lay roads or put trees on them which is a pain. Also while you can drive on them you have to be very careful at the intersection of road/ground and the harbour object. If you don't drive very slowly the vehicle is damaged. Same problem with bridges.

I've got same problem. In game the bridge sections are on ground level, but in wrptool higher. Is this problem caused by 4WVR wrp format? So i should to binarize my wrp? But i cant understand why i need to place in the binarize directory, all of textures and models what i using in the wrp. Because i want to binarize ONLY the wrp. >:(

Re: Object always at groundlevel
Wrptool only works with binariazed versions of objects, otherwise you get some strange errors, like objects being burried or floating. Another thing is the ground detail setting ingame, on 'normal' ofp generates small crests etc. Objects placed on the terrain will follow these.
Indeed the answer lies in binarizing your objects and putting the origin at the right place, just experiment and see what happens.

Re: Object always at groundlevel
But my objects are binarized, most of them are original object from resistance. ONLY my wrp didn't binarized.
Now I see I need to use the binarize tool, but that isn't look like a professional tool

AAArrgghhh >:( I can't use this binarize tool!!! I tried with a tutorial, but it didn't work. I tried everythink but this shit doesn't works. I placed every addons what i use in the wrp to the binarize directory.
Here is the whole binarize directory
..and the errors
And why binarize don't find the textures in data? All of them placed in data directory!
What is the problem????
