LOD Editor - versions capabilities

I have an old version of LOD Editor (courtesy of Quake) that works everytime, with every model, even those under development.
The newer LOD Editor versions (at least from 3.63 on) seem to not work with models that are not final (error message: Model failed to load - aborting).
Couldn't find anything about this behaviour either on manuals, on this forum , on F4LE group. Do I have a problem (running Win XP) or is it considered normal? In the latter case why can't it be fixed? In the former case, what could I do to make the last version work? :?

did you check:

action > set HDR Max Node, to higher number?

you hit it. Problem nailed. Never went there, couldn't think of that setting. And I had to live with it all this time.
