Thanx to Mike, LODcompiler could easily model a glassy nose for IR/Laser/Optical missiles. I think i could have abused this feature on all my models.
After second thought, i realize missile dome window is made of different materail for their specific seeker. So my modeling better adjusted accordingly.
For TV(optical missiles), surely they use Glass for dome window. I'll model this in AJ168 and Walleyes.
For Laser seeker dome, any idea?
any pic of AS30L nosetip, or A10's laser picker? so it also made of Glass?
For IR missiles, the toughest part, hope you guys can provide help, according to
http://www.sci.fi/~fta/aim9.html
some dome window use Glass, others use MgF2 >> what's color should it be?
besides, early IR missile dome window use Glass, like: AIM9, AA2 atoll. so i can model it with transparent feature safely.
but others like: AA5 ash IR, AA6 acrid IR, AA8 aphid, Magic I, Magic II, Matra 530 IR, Mica IR, Python3, Safair, Python4, AIM4 falcon series, and Penguin ASM, can somebody confirm they use Glass dome too? or other material/color/no transperent?
and AIM9X use glass nose again? AA11? asraam?
any pic link to support your comment is appreciated,
