Falcon - [ SimData zip ] tweak
Just start a thread for discussing [ SimData.zip ].
for FM part, that's aeronautic experts' field.
I post my humble findings about non-FM part here.. in case i forgot them and do it again.
=========================
1. Gear position X, Y, Z, RNG.
i try to tweak Z value, make ac looks nose-up on the ground. As i increase the Z value of nose gear, the result is - yes, my ac looks pitch up on the ground, but not stable.. it starts shaking, restless.. when i throttle up, the acshaking stop, stablized, then takeoff. when landing, the nose gear seems sink into ground, not resume the nose-up posture. My AI wingman can not stand with this shaking - he refuse to take off, just taxi outside the runway! So, a stable nose-up can only be achieved by applying XDOF on ac model ATM.
2. PitchGearFactor 0
This flag seems useless.. whatever value i put in, no effect on 3d. it won't help making ac nose-up on the ground.
3. Swing wing angle setting,
i found several swing-wing ac have same sweep angle settings: 20, 50. but in ac like Su17/20, these values cause OVER-swept at high speed. i changed the max swept angle value, can not limit the wing animation. wierd. my only solution is limiting the max angle with XDOF limits on 3d model.

my bad, this part is wrong. the wing angle can be controlled by ac.dat.
Code: Select all
swingwingHinge -1.6 8.2 -0.94 #location of pivot point in model
animSwingWingRate 5.0
animSwingWingStages 2
animSwingWingMach1 0.6
animSwingWingMach2 0.8
animSwingWingAngle1 25
animSwingWingAngle2 50

Q: When i apply wheel brake during taxiing, the AC nose sink deeply into ground?
A: If the physical data, CG( center of gravity) is too close to Main gear position, the ac nose may nodding exaggeratedly.
example like this one.. main gear 14.2(from ac nose), CG 14(from ac nose), the nodding is horrible. if you change CG value from 14 to 13, or 12( forward), the nodding effect becomes softer, more acceptable.

Excellent stuff ccc thank you very much for documenting it.
If you could, you can edit your first post and collect all (new) information there, you can then post that "I have added X and Y, first post updated." so readers know that there is stuff added. Would be very easy to read the first post then.
Anyways, good job, keep it up

Re: Falcon - [ SimData zip ] tweak
What about fixing wing trails of variable swing AC? In FF5.5 wingtip trails are buggy for F-111F.

flag-Wingtip locations is fixed.molnibalage wrote:What about fixing wing trails of variable swing AC? In FF5.5 wingtip trails are buggy for F-111F.
For swing-wings, the wing tip locations is dynamic, same as the wingtip light effect, the dynamic positions/lighting need NEW CODE.

Re: Falcon - [ SimData zip ] tweak
What new code? In F5.0 and F5.3 as I can remember it was good. In 5.5 it is bad but other variable wing AC has good wintip loaction.

Then you may edit flag "WingtipLocation" in f111.dat.molnibalage wrote:What new code? In F5.0 and F5.3 as I can remember it was good. In 5.5 it is bad but other variable wing AC has good wintip loaction.
