Turkish Theater

Post by krfrge » 2001-04-13 17:02:00

Just wanted to know if the raw files that I sent were worth anything? I did eventually get the opportunity to fly around in the area but lost the .tac file and am attempting to rebuild it now.

I have the files you sent here, havent done anything to them Image call me busy, call me lazy, both counts you'll find me guilty Image

I have the turkey.tac here if you need me to send it back to you?

Oh and I'll try to get the installer for you next week, remind me please on middle of the week if you dont hear anything.

I almost forgot, can you please send me your theaters *.TDF files, I can then build the basic objects for you in the campaign (basically making you a smallish campaign).

zip the TDF's and email them to nospam

Snake,

Thanks, I'll get you the files shortly. What I would like you to do is to teach me how to do this so I don't bother you so much

The idea was to build F4Patch compatible installer for Turkey theater, so thats what I aim to do (also promised to do one for 87th guys).

My small village program that creates the campaign objects works nicely... on linux, ok I have the c sources here so it could be compiled as easy to use windows program too but ... guess what, no windows compiler installed Hehe Image

And to teach how to do the installer (InstallShield) and F4Patch compatible theater installation selection... is way beyond my teaching abilities, it is simply too confusing (and me a lousy teach). Sorry.

So you'll be receiveing (hopefully) working Installer .exe from me soon, if its going to take a while remind me please by email or here. I'll try to compile it after the weekend.

If you have any updated files, please send those too as it would be best to get as updated stuff as possible for the installer.

Thanx Krfrge, I got the map..wow 4mb tga!

talking about the coverage of map, hmmm...
west half of Black sea, Turkey, Greece(lower half cut), Crete island (part).
so, its centered on turkey. probably play turkey+NATO vs Black sea fleet+ some countries on west rim of black sea. unable to play turkey vs greece due to limited Agean sea.

Thanks CCC. I have ideas about what I want to try to do but I am open to any suggestions. I would like to maybe get the map a little more to the east and north to get a Turkey .vs Russia scenairo,,, I think that some folks would find that interesting.

CCC,

Right now I am using the basic terrain files that came with the original Falcon 4. I was thinking about "borrowing" some from the Balkans Theaters,,, if those folks don't mind.

Hi krfrge

You are more than welcome to use anything from the Balkans theatre that you need. Just give the Balkans Terrain Team credit for the bits you do.

Later and good luck.

Snake. I am flying around in the theater. No patches just a pure Falcon 4.0. I swapped the korean peninsula for the Turkish region. very simple flight being flown, Still a lot of tiling to improve upon. Question though. As I fly the terrain, say 5 miles out and greater, seems checkered. Its not smooth like the other theaters,,,,any suggestions?

As the correct TDF files didnt make it by time (could not create campaign objects), the installer work is on hold as of now.
