HI Snake Man,
Are you ready to create your Pie screen for Vnam? Just read some tutorial from newsletter..
BTW, what about theater music and intro avi?
do you got friends good at 3d animation? want to use 3d models for avi? or interlacing with real video clips?
hehe my2c, how about borrowing parts from Janes' Fighter Anthology and Jane's? or can you find good clips among public resources?

Please post the tutorial here!

Yes, as a matter of fact I was last night speaking with PMC 3d geek and he was telling me the Vietnam intro is coming up nicely.
Yes please we would want to use your 3d models if possible. Hmm videoclips, dunno about that, might be, might be.

What? your intro avi is about done?! cool!
Of course you can use my 3d models as you wish. go get them on Falkland egroup.
well, I didnt upload their skins. since you got good 3d geeks, they could make it.
Honestly, I'd like intro avi mixed 3d animnation and some real video clips, should be more professional. Both old EA sims are good resources.
BTW, I've talked to one FA guys for extracting Vietnanese pilots vocal files.
just nice addon for Mig pilots. :)

Not about done... its coming up nicely that what the our 3d guy told me ;)

I'll pass those new Mig models to him, maybe he could design some aircombat animations between F-4 and Mig.

PMFJI, I think it would be pretty cool to use the dogfight that Duke Cunningham had to earn his kills! I've seen it on t.v. so there is footage (might be recreated?).

Are you doing something similar to the current F4 opening movie?

Wish there was something I could do to help. Image I think it would take too long to learn how to model 3D stuff. Animation would be cool!

Regards,
Tex

Tex,
dunno if you have any backgroud about 3d animation or multi-media processing?
We could reproduce that kill, but need skilled guys in this field.
If possilbe, we should interweave and merge real video clips(from other sims? Image ) and 3d animation, like that of f4 opening avi.
I've prepared some material, but cant afford more free hours now Image

If you have a TV-out graphics card, and a Sony PC4, PC100 or PC110 DV Vieo Camera (borrow it), you can make the action happen yourself. Just connect the camera, and start the tape rolling. Editing software should be available from many sources. It also follows the camera.

ya, i've considered that.
Instead of making animation with 3ds max, simply take video clips from our in-game action. in this case, we need:
1.better 3d model.
2.better terrain tiles.
3.practice multiplay to catch best scene.

well, perhaps you 87th guys got equipment already? Image

I wish I was that skilled. Image I do have the time, just not the talent (i think).

I'm a mechanical draftsman using autocad. I can do solid modelling alright, it's all the animation that i've never gotten into. I looked into 3D Studio but I didn't have a project to do so I never created anything. I don't have that great an imagination! Image

Sure looks like to me that F4 is gonna be around for awhile so perhaps i'll start investing some time in getting some skills that i can use to help.

Perhaps with some ideas or tips from you guys, i can get started?

thanks for taking the time, ccc.

Welcome Tex!

Honestly, i cant promise anything about 3d modeling for falcon4.
Julian and Christian is working hard on that, check F4C msg board and its latest interview--Ripper--3D model.
Besides, we dont have a guideline of modeling yet, like limit of polygons, DOF, etc.
Even though, i decide to prepare some LOD2-3 level models for the day to come. If you are interested in 3d modeling, check links here:

http://www.pmctactical.org/f4/ubb/Forum ... 00056.html
http://www.egroups.com/group/f4Falkland

Get yourself LODviewer, LODbrowser, or f4browse, you can start to learn how MPS design their 3d models.

I have some problems getting our Vietnam Campaign Intro to run in Falcon. The resolution/frames/audio is identical to the korean intro, still F4 wont play it.

Does anyone have experience with the .avi movies in Falcon 4?

What program are you using? Unfortunately, many of the low grade programs distort the audio or lose frames and falcon's movie player will reject it. The player is highly selective. If you get me the intro Ill try and salvage it and add onto it.

I think our 3d geek made it with 3DS Max 3 or 4 (cant remember), he edited with Adobe Premier 6 (I think again).

I'll ask him.

Ok well if you email me and I'll give you the link.
